Educators and curriculum experts have made preliminary revisions to the curriculum in these areas. According to the state Department of Education, third-graders who do not pass the reading CRCT are not promoted to the fourth-grade, and fifth- and eighth-graders who do not pass both the reading and math CRCT also are denied promotion. The blue represents the highest scores while brown represents the lowest. The lowest scores are concentrated south of I and east of the perimeter, while high scores are concentrated in the north.
