You should probably just upgrade to the ipad2. Oct 13, AM in response to sportj86 In response to sportj That's not correct sportj86, I have been running the multi-touch gestures on my original iPad for some time now under 4. X so clearly it does work! In fact as I have not upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPad and won't be because of this I still have it working on an iPad 1 sat right next to me now!
Apple released the new xcode 4. Can anyone that upgraded to IOS5 check if it can be enabled like in the past? I don't want to upgrade mine to find out it doesn't.
Oct 13, AM in response to jbritton In response to jbritton I'm in agreement with everyone, the iPad 1 can run the multitouch gestures without any problems. Apple is essentially falsely advertising a feature without any disclaimer mentioning that multitouch gestures only work on iPad 2. Leave feedback with Apple. They should've at least highlighted that on the iOS 5 launch page.
It just says iPad, generally speaking. It's been a while since Apple policies have disgusted me, two steps from moving on the Android or the yet-to-be Windows 8 tablets. I totally agree. That would be a great feature. At least update your propaganda to specify only iPad2!!! A bit of perspective - the multitouch gestures were never a "proper" feature of IOS 4. This likely means they were either removed for performance reasons on the iPad 1, or this is a bug If its a bug, it will get fixed.
If not, it's surely not the end of the world! Here's how to fix it. You agree to receive updates, promotions, and alerts from ZDNet. You may unsubscribe at any time. Swipe across the handle at the bottom of the Slide Over window to move between apps -- it's the same gesture that works on newer iPhones.
Similarly, you can also view all open Slide Over apps by swiping up from the bottom of the Slide Over window. Hide a Slide Over app by using the handle at the top of the window to move it off the screen, or by dragging it from the left-edge of the window and pushing it off the right side of the screen. The window will disappear off the screen, but can be brought back by swiping to the left from the right edge of the screen. To use two apps at the same time, with each one taking up a portion of the screen, you'll want to use Split View.
Open an app in split view by dragging a Safari tab, a message in Mail, or app icon to the right side of the screen. In between the two windows is a small handle that you can use to drag and resize the amount of space each app takes up. After you master the gestures used for navigation and multitasking, you'll feel like a pro when getting around the iPad.
Of course, iPadOS didn't only add new gestures to the tablet. Specifically, there's a new Reminders app , improvements to Messages and the vastly improved Safari. Be respectful, keep it civil and stay on topic.
