He was sick for a while. But it took awhile to get there. We have been for eight years. I find that these days, I do it more for medical purposes. I had this bout of nausea because I had acid-reflux problems, and they tried different medications to make it calm down, but if I smoke pot, it takes that nausea away.

He attended California State University, Northridge, where he majored in English literature, but left eight credits short of a degree to move to Vancouver, Canada, and avoid the Vietnam draft. Marin was delivering carpets when he met Tommy Chong, a musician who was running an improv comedy troupe from a strip bar owned by his family.
